Got my Sky Blue Forester XC D a month ago. This is my fifth Subaru, 3rd Forester, first diesel Forester. Did own a diesel Range Rover 1994 to 1996, then switched to first Subaru Impreza.
Have had to give up auto, but don't mind manual as no longer driving on business. Seems a pretty good shift to me, just a little notchy when cold.
Very impressed with this engine, no diesel thrum at all when cruising, and getting 42mpg (imperial) so far on mostly local trips. Unlike my previous 2.0 litre petrol auto, this car maintains its cruising speed up all motorway gradients without having to change down.
