View Full Version : Hello there!
Hello,
My name is Andy. I'm the admin here. I love trucks, and I love diesel anything. I grew up as a heavy equipment operator, now I'm a website designer. Looking forward to seeing more small diesel rigs in the US! Another great site to check out is Mahindra Truck Forum, which I also run. It's dedicated to the small diesel pickup that will be released this spring from India, into the US.
Anyways, enjoy your stay! Happy New Year!

Hello to all 7 of you and the few guests that even know this site exists. I think I share the same hope (and some excitement) that Subaru Diesel will come the Western Hemisphere. So far nothing concrete to talk about but the internet "announcements" that it will happen soon. Haven't even called a dealership to get their spin. Diesel and AWD w/o the European price tag. Could this be true? Patience and a positive vibe is all we have for now.. Thank you Andy for this. I hope it amounts to something. Snowcar
Good to have you snowcar!

Hello All,
I primarily drive a couple of 1996 VW Passat TDI's (one sedan one wagon). There just isn't anything comparable to the wagon, nearly always get about 40 mpg and have plenty of space and a tank capacity of 25 gallons. Yep, I almost never fill up with less than 1,000 miles on a tank. I run B100 three seasons.
What I want is an all wheel drive diesel for my wife and for winter trips. VW/Audi just doesn't seem to want to do it. They have a couple of possibilities (Audi A3 and VW Tiguan).
I have high hopes for Subaru. My mother drives a 1999 Forrester. What a great car! I keep trying to convince her to play with it in the snow to gain confidence. She hasn't done much of that yet. It hasn't let her down for sure.

Hi Andy,
What I most want it a place to post, "Letters to Subaru of America".
If it exists, please let me know where to go. I feel that they probably will monitor this site and use it as a partial gauge of interest. I assume that is the point.
I want to write some thought addressed specifically to them.
Thanks,
Ben

One of the big questions for me is what % will Subaru and Mahindra allow
for biodiesel. I would like to upgrade my primary mode of transportation but
do not want to sacrifice a warranty to run B-50 or above. I got out of Subarus
because I will not support big oil any longer. I drive a 2002 VW bug TDI and a
2005 Jeep Liberty CRD (my wife) and for 8 months a year run "Fossil free" .
The bug runs on WVO so it in the winter is still 95% Fossil free. The Jeep I
was afraid to go that route because of the new technology high pressure
injectors. The bug now has 50,000 on grease and biodiesel and the jeep is
at 30,000 on biodiesel. The Jeep has an automatic which we hate and would
love the 6 speed manual talked about. I do race a '95 Impreza in the SCCA
Rallycross series but put on only 100 miles a year on fossil.
It will be interesting if both companies stick to the B-2 to B-20 other companies have for warranty coverage.

Hello,
I am a big fan of diesel products and a promoter of bio diesel both at work and in my private life. I have owned a Dodge Ram with the Cummins turbo diesel and currently drive a 1991 Mercedes 350 SD.
I am very excited about the possibliity of a Subaru wiht a diesel engine. I am origianlly from the mountains of Western North Carolina and Subaru's are recognized as a superior vehicle for the rough roads and severe weather there.
I am pleased that someone is tracking the interest of diesel fans here in the US and I will be one of the first in line to buy an all wheel drive diesel powered Subaru.
thanks for setting this up

For those that are interested and do not have the biodiesel lingo... is "B-50" up to 50% biodiesel, and so on for "B-2" and "B-20"? I know what a TDI is as I used to own one but what does CRD and WVO mean? Interested and wish to participate in the thread... thanks for the clarification! Andrew

asp;
CRD is an acronym used by Daimler Chrysler when they were together, defining the type of engine in the Jeep Liberty, and later the Jeep Cherokee. I believe Mercedes still uses the term.
It stands for Common Rail Diesel. Meaning the type of fuel injection system on the diesel engine.
WVO is a biodiesel acronym for Waste Vegetable Oil

I am new to the forum and a relatively new fan of diesel engines. I've known of the efficiency benefits of diesel for a long time, but was always concerned with the particulate emissions of these engines. Now the advent of "clean" diesel has not only eliminated that concern, but has also rendered diesel a cleaner option the gasoline. This is an exciting time, indeed!
I've done a lot of research about current and upcoming diesel models and the specs of the Forester 2.0D make me salivate! Bring it on Subaru!
